My 5-month-old kitten sneezes with mucus. Should I wait for vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 21 days old | 5 lbs

My 5 month old kitten has a sneeze. She used to sneeze multiple times in a row, but now it's just one big sneeze with mucus sometimes coming from her nose. Her energy levels are very high and it doesn't seem to impact her at all. I have a vet appointment in 2 weeks, so I'm wondering if I should wait for this appointment or take her to see the vet sooner. Should I be concerned?

As long as she is otherwise normal, you don't have to rush her into a vet right away. Now if she starts having excessive nasal discharge, eye discharge, coughing, becomes lethargic, and/or has a decrease or loss of appetite, then I would take her into the vet sooner. Best of luck.
