My dog is limping and vomiting white foam. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 9 days old

My dog started limping Sunday night, on and off lifting his right back leg. I have pushed and pulled it, applied pressure all over etc and examined the paw but there is nothing and no pain. Today he started vomiting. A white/clear froth, becomes very thirsty afterwards....

Hi! Thanks for entrusting us with Maverick’s care today! Lameness can be a sign of a few things that range from a muscle sprain to even a fracture. The vomiting is likely unrelated and could be due to gastroenteritis for example. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Treatment will be dependent on findings though at the very least pain control medications can be prescribed. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
