Rescued kitten has worms/mites. Is low energy normal after treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 20 days old | 1.5 lbs

I rescued a 7 week old stray kitten. She was found freezing on the side of the road in a snow bank. She has ear mites, an ear infection, and round worms. We started the deworming treatment 2 days ago & she was started on tresaderm for her ears. I give it twice a day - she absolutely hates this. She sometimes plays and interacts but otherwise sleeps and hides. I tried pheromone spray today but didn’t make a difference. What should I expect her activity level to be ? When should I be concerned?

Considering she is pretty sick and needs time to recuperate from freezing, worms, ear mites and missing her mommy and siblings, a lower energy level is expected and quite normal. Give her time. Let her sleep as much as she needs to. Feed her canned kitten food, which is easier for her to eat than dry kitten food. Eventually she will be a wild child!
