My kitten is sick, vomiting, and can't poop. What can I do at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 22 days old | 3.9 lbs

I may have found my culprit! Artemis, one of our roommate's kittens, just tried to poop in the cleaned box. She farted (oh boy did that stink) and only a little wetness come out. She covered it, but then she went and threw up twice. I think she has a blockage, as she also has not been eating nearly anything. Unfortunately I am not her caretaker so I can't take her to the vet and get her care, but I am worried about her. Is there something I can do at home to help until her owner gets home?

Don't give Artemis any food, she can have water. Keep her quiet, and call your roommate to come home to take her into a vet now. If she does have a blockage, that is a medical emergency because it's fatal without treatment and time is of the essence. I hope this helps!
