How to treat cat chin acne and bumps at home without a vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

My cat has bumps on her chin we think it is chin acne and we bought these pads but they backfired. Lizzy hates them and will run. We brought her to the vet but it was no help! We don’t have the money for another vet trip! Help

I am so sorry to hear about your sweet girl. It could possibly be chin acne but without seeing them in person I cannot say for sure. I would consider buying some stridex pads (human, OTC) and see if she will let you clean it with that. I would also make sure all of her water and food bowls are made out of stainless steel and cleaned daily. Finally, if it isn't improving and when you are able to go back to the vet, I would talk to your vet about trying an injectable long acting steroid shot and antibiotics to see if this will help. I hope this helps!
