My dog has slight vaginal odor and discharge. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 10 months and 2 days old | 11 lbs

I wanted to reask my last question to edit that the odor is maybe an odor for a second or two here and there throught the week its never a constant odor coming from my dogs vaginal region and the white discharge also isnt constant it was just a tiny amount dried into her vulva fur and only happened this morning at 7 am and nothing else since. Is this still a major concern ? I read online that the smell happens after a heat as its the same pheromone smell she gave off during heat ?

Unfortunately without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain if the white discharge and smell is a major concern. It could be a sign of a pyometra, and that is fatal without treatment. To be safe, I think it's best you take her into a vet now to get checked out. Best of luck.
