It is very normal for dogs to not have a bowel movement for a day or two after diarrhea. Their intestines are empty. I would continue with the rice and chicken until Roger has nice solid poop and then you can start adding some of his normal food to the rice and chicken for another day before giving only his regular food. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

First off, you did the right thing by putting Zoey on a chicken and rice diet for her diarrhea. It sounds like it has helped, and you can commonly see a lack of bowel moments after having diarrhea. I wouldn't be worried about it just yet, especially since she is eating, urinating, and playing. I would continue to monitor her, and if she hasn't had a bowel movement sometime tomorrow, then I would have her seen by a vet. Keep her on the chicken and rice diet for a few more days, then slowly add back in Zoey's normal diet.

I love that name - Penny Moon! How cute! I'm sorry to hear that she's been having stomach issues. It is not unusual for a pet to not have a bowel movement for several days after having diarrhea. If she continues to vomiting, becomes lethargic or begins straining to have a bowel movement, I would recommend that she is seen by your veterinarian.

Poor Mochi. It's actually normal to see a period of no bowel movements after having diarrhea. Keep feeding her the chicken and brown rice as instructed by her vet. Feed her the bland diet for a couple of days, then slowly add back in her normal diet. Bring her into the vet if the diarrhea returns or the vomiting returns. Also bring her into the vet if she loses her appetite or becomes very lethargic.
