Is my 2-month-old kitten too small to be spayed? What's the best age?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | 1lb

What is the best age to spay my kitten? She’s about 2 months old now & I heard it’s possible to spay at this time, but I feel she is too tiny because she was the runt in her litter.

Jacqui is so cute! She can be spayed as long as she is two pounds in weight. If she's small, it's fine to wait until she is three or four months old, but I would get it done before she is six months old. I hope this helps!
