My male dog's nipple bled. Is this normal? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 68 lbs

My dog has always had what look like nipples on his belly, well the other day he aggravated one enough it bled. We cleaned it up and this is how it looks now, doesn’t seem to bother him at all. I just gave him a bath and washed it up real good.

All male dogs have nipples, so yes that is Hank's nipple. I don't see any sign of infection from the picture, and you've done a good job cleaning it up. Keep an eye on it, and if you see any redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it's infected and he needs to see a vet. Best of luck.
