My cat has a broken leg. How can I help her rest and adjust?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 1 day old | 5 lbs

My cat had recently went to the vet and they discovered she had a broken leg. Anyways she is flipping around and getting upset every once in awhile. The vet said that was normal. But what my question is how long until she gets use to it ? And how can I help her rest, it’s like she can’t sleep long and then she wakes up and get upset. So that’s my other question how can I get my cat to actually sleep for longer then just a little

Poor Gracie! She should get used to the bandage with time. The best thing to do while she’s getting upset is to try to distract her - a little canned food might work well. You could also ask your vet if a sedative might be helpful for a few days. I don’t think there would be anything specific to do to get her to sleep longer but again I think eventually she’ll get used to the bandage and it won’t bother her so much.
