My dog's stitches look weird 3 days after lipoma surgery. Is it infected?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | 11 years and 7 months old

My dog had a lipoma removed and has stitches. The surgery was three days ago. I am concerned it is healing properly. The first photo was the day of the surgery. The second photo is three days later. Does this look ok or is it infected

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It looks a little bruised which can be somewhat expected shortly after surgery. However, this should subside shortly. If you ever notice any discharge or bleeding from the incision site, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment. Good luck!
