My dog's penis is still bleeding after antibiotics. What now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 43 lbs

I took my 6 year old dog to vet because he was had blood droplets coming from his penis. He has been taking antibiotic for 16 days and has 5 more pills to take. I just saw after 16 days he is having more blood droplets coming from his penis again. Do i need to just have him neutered or bring him back for more check ups.quite costly but i need to make sure he is ok

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This would in fact warrant a recheck with your veterinarian. They may choose to proceed with diagnostics at this point such as a prostatic wash or perhaps just trying a different antibiotic. Hopefully this is nothing serious. Good luck!
