Kitten still has worms & swollen butt after treatment. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 27 days old | 2 lbs

My kitten went to the vet on Wednesday and got treated for worms by an oral medication, she pooped a lot of worms out and egg looking things are still falling out of her and sticking to her butt, her butthole is also swollen and red. Is the antibiotic not working? Can i bring her in to get treated again?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This will depend on certain factors. One of them is which deworming medication was given and for which parasite. She could probably receive more deworming if needed at this point. I would recommend that you have Jewel evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to make this determination based on her medical history and exam. Good luck!
