Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Male | neutered | 2 years and 10 months old

I have a male Syrian hamster who is almost 3 years old.he has yellow and sticky poop.he is very inactive( he was inactive even before he had this problem, might be due to aging).he still eats on his own but has reduced appetite. his poop gets stuck to his bum and I have to remove it using a tissue, its very sticky and stinky as well.when I removed his poop last time it was almost a inch long, sticky ,yellow and thick.what must be the problem with him?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be due to a gastrointestinal issue such as gastroenteritis, colitis, parasites, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a great day!
