Rabbit weak, not eating, GI stasis? What to do before the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 25 days old | 0.5 lbs

I have a 2 and a half month rabbit. My rabbit suddenly become weak and not eating, just laying on the floor. I suspect that it might be G.I stasis but i can only take him to the pet tomorrow because its already late night in my country. I heard it's dangerous if rabbit not eating for a long time. I'm not sure if my rabbit has a blockage in his digestion system but can i force feed him with critical care for the time being before i can take him to the vet?what else can i do for my rabbit?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry that your little rabbit isn't feeling well. I agree it sounds like it might be GI stasis or a blockage and this is very serious. If there are any 24 hour vets you can go to then I would go right away. Otherwise, you can dilute the critical care with water as it says on the package, and feed it every 2 hours. You can try adding a bit of pineapple juice as well. If the abdomen isn't bloated you can try gentle massage of the abdomen, but only if your little rabbit doesn't seem sore. Best of luck with your little one, and get it to a vet as soon as possible!
