My dog is tired, not eating, breathing fast 2 weeks post neuter. Normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Male | 8 months and 10 days old | 60 lbs

I got my dog neutered two weeks ago and he was fine and still hyper. Suddenly, today his personality began to change because he seemed more fatigue and down. His breathing is quicker than usual and he hasn’t ate his dinner. I was wondering if this may be something normal after neutered or if he is just sick.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is unlikely to be due to the neuter surgery. This may be present due to something affecting his gastrointestinal system and/or his respiratory system for example. If this continues, I recommend you have Ace evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check what may be wrong with him so that this can be treated accordingly. Good luck!
