My cat bites and scratches me awake. Why the sudden aggression?

Question

My 2 year old adult male cat wakes me up every morning by licking and pawing my face. But since the last 3 days he has been aggressively waking me up by biting and scratching and he's not doing it playfully. I have scratch marks all over my hand. What could be the reason behind his aggressive behaviour ? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 5 lbs

I would recommend you consider keeping him separate in a different room or just in a crate while you sleep to avoid this. Hopefully, this behavior will improve on its own. Good luck!
