My dog with pancreatitis has bloody stool and strains. Euthanasia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed

My 10 year old cavalier King Charles was diagnosed with pancreatitis, she often will need to be let out 3/4 times a night. When nothing more is to come out she strains and produces blood. This has been every other day for the past 10 days When she’s not going through this she is fine She is on special diet and Lypex Do we ride it out or think about euthanasia

I’m assuming she is defecating frequently and not urinating. If so you might want to see if your vet wants to add in any medications for diarrhea/colitis. Sometimes an antibiotic for bacterial overgrowth can be helpful. If you have already exhausted treatment options or if your vet is not optimistic about Bella’s recovery then it may be time to discuss euthanasia.
