Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 8 years and 7 months old | 13.6 lbs
My cat is limping on one of his paws. He's quite active and is putting some weight on it but still limping. This is the third day of him being like this. We went to the vet on the first day and they prescribed some anti Inflammatory meds for once a day. The vet also didn't find any punctures or cuts. I suspect its a fracture. The vet suggested going for an x-ray but I can't afford it. If it is a fracture and we leave it another week, will he be OK? Can fractures heal on their own?

The answer is a bit of a catch 22. Yes, fractures can heal on their own, however they don't always heal in a good position naturally, so letting it heal on his own could lead to greater issues long term. However, money doesn't grow on trees, and if you can't afford x-rays and surgery, I'd recommend talking to your vet about what your budget is and what the best plan will be within that budget. That is something that vets are very familiar with and can work around.
