My cat has painful bumps and dry blood on her chin. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | 9 years and 6 months old | 14 lbs

Hello. I just noticed that my cat has some minor bumps and some dry blood on her chin. She also gets upset if i try to touch her chin. Not sure what to make of it because she hasnt been outside. About 2 months ago she did get into a fight with another animal that resulted in tail bite and possible infection and I gave her antibiotics from the vet. Im just concerned that her current chin issue may be related to the tail incident.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think this is likely an unrelated issue and it does not have to do with the tail incident. I think this is likely a skin infection. This may be due to an underlying allergy. I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatments. At the very least, they would be able to start antibiotics for her. Good luck and have a good night!
