What to do if my cat's nose is bloody and raw from a heater burn?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 10 months and 12 days old | 5 lbs

My cat’s nose is bloody and raw. I think she may have burned it on one of our heaters. Her eyes & mouth seem okay, it’s just her nose. She keeps scratching at it & excessively cleaning it so it cuts back open & bleeds. She’s still eating & drinking. No blood or discolored urine or stool. I have 2 other cats, both seem okay. Unsure if infection or just a bad burn

Without photos it would be hard to say, but if it keeps reopening, has excessive discharge, or isn't healing it is best to have a vet take a look in person to make sure it isn't infected or there isn't another underlying issue going on. It is also a good idea to keep an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Arya at all times to prevent her from pawing at or rubbing the nose to allow it a chance to heal without further irritation.
