Is it normal for my dog to be wobbly after pyometra surgery and meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 13.5 lbs

My dog Holly had surgery for pyrometra on sunday and is home now. She is eating and drinking and walking around. The only concern i have is when she is walking. She seems to wobble a bit and will almost fall over. She is taking pain meds and a antibiotic every 12 hours. Should i take her to a vet or is it the meds that make her weak and wobble

The pyometra was a serious infection and being wobbly after pyometra surgery is normal. This should go away after a few days. Please keep giving her her pain medicine and antibiotics as prescribed. Should Holly deteriorate, not get better within the next two days or start vomiting, or not eat or drink she needs to be seen by your vet for a recheck.
