Is it normal my puppy hasn't pooped after cryptorchidism surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 8 months and 24 days old | 6 lbs

My 9 month old puppy had surgery for Cryptorchidism for both testicles, he hasn’t had any bowel movements since I picked him up last night, I’m not sure if he had any at the vet. He has had food two times since, he is passing urine. Just want to make sure it is normal

Hello, thank you for your question. General anesthesia can decrease overall GI motility. Additionally Peluche was likely fasted before this procedure. I would not be too concerned about the lack of defecation. If he is otherwise eating, drinking, and acting ok it is fine to continue to monitor him. Things should return to normal very soon. Hope this helps, good luck!
