How can I get my budgies to bond and build trust with me?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female

Nearly been 2 months since we've had the budgies. Im worried they won't form an attachment with me as they've a set routine of flying around the room, eating and sleeping. They'll come on my finger if I put it in front but there's no real attachment or bond there. There's 2 of them and we have decided not to clip their wings after being advised not to by our local vet. Worried they will not bond with me

Thanks for reaching out. It is doubtful that clipped or unclipped flight feathers are the cause of lack of bonding. Winning them over with trust is the key. Presenting treats, that they can not acquire in the cage might help. Presenting toys to play with could also benefit. Not all birds tame down and socialize with humans, but be persistent with the interactions. good luck.
