My puppy has a skin rash after dog park and bath. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 29 days old | 26 lbs

My puppy developed this rash today, I noticed it after he was playing at the dog park and I brought him in for a bath at a self service dog grooming. Any idea what it is and if I should be concerned?

It looks like some moist dermatitis (superficial skin infection) similar to a heat rash. I suggest you apply some of this spray on it two to three times daily until healed. If no improvement or it worsens then I suggest you get him to your vet for an exam. ( #customerReviews ) As a side note, it isn't really recommended that you take a puppy this young to a dog park. At three months of age they are not fully vaccinated and their immune system is not fully developed. Too many diseases they can catch...... It is best to wait to take them to places like dog parks until they are over 6 months of age. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It looks like a skin infection. This is common in puppies. I would wash the area with a mild soap and water then dry the area well. If the rash is still there 24 hours later I would take her to a vet for oral antibiotics. Good luck and kisses to your pup!
