My dog smells like kerosene and acts weird. Could it be toxic?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 1 year and 11 months old

My dog smells like kerosene and is acting really weird. She is shifting places from to place within seconds. She is being really hyper. She is also rubbing her face on clothes. She only lays down on cold places and doesn't allow us to hold her. The smell is coming more from her belly. What should we do?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is possible that Nancy may have gotten into some gas somewhere. I would be worried that maybe she drank some, or something else from a garage. I recommend having her to a vet right away as Nancy could have a toxicity issue. Best of luck with Nancy, I hope she feels better soon!
