Why did my 4-month-old puppy get hives after being left alone?

My dog over night has came out in hives. This is the first time this has ever happened, he is 4 months and was left alone last night for the first time, could dress have caused this ? Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 20 days old | 8 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is most likely secondary to an allergic reaction. This was probably caused by an allergy to something in the environment. If this does not resolve shortly, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian for treatment of an allergic reaction. This is usually treated with an anti-histamine medication and steroids.
