My kitten has a complicated hernia. Is surgery risky, or can he live?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 2.3 lbs

I have a 11 week kitten, he was born with a protruded abdomen. I took him to veterinary today. I was told he had a hernia where his organs grew outside of the wall cavity. I was told it was more complicated hernia. She told me they cant to the surgery. My kitten is full of life and have a very good appetite. Is it a risky surgery or can he live a normal life with out operation

The problem with hernias is that the internal organs can become twisted and cut off blood supply. That is very painful and will lead to death. This is something that needs to be fixed with surgery. Depending on the severity of the hernia, it may be an easy fix and not a risky surgery. Only the vet treating Flash can tell you if it's risky or not. I hope this helps!
