Do new puppies need Nutrical AND milk replacer for best nutrition?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I am preparing for a litter of puppies and want to keep some form of extra nutrition on hand. I am considering nutrical or a milk replacer. Would one of them suffice or would I need both?

Nutri-Cal is great if you need to get quick calories into a new pup. It can then be followed with an appropriate puppy milk replacer such as Esbilac or Pet-Lac. The powdered form would be recommended so you can mix up just what is needed and prevent waste.
