My cat scratches her head from food. What medicine can help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Himalayan | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 6.6 lbs

Hi, I recently took Noushi to the vet & he said she doesn't have flea or allergy but she's still scratching her head. She reacts to Royal & Sanabelle with ostrich meat but she's ok with Sanabelle for sensitive cats. My country is not in good conditions right now & good quality cat food isn't available at the moment. I only have Sanabelle Ostrich left right now that she reacts to. What should I do? What can i give her along with this to stop her ichyness.

The only thing that can help reduce the reaction to the food is steroids, prednisolone is usually very helpful and relatively safe if given in low dosage, you will have to consult a vet in order to get a prescrition.
