Why does my old dog with Cushing's cough when playing or picked up?

My pet has cushin's disease but she has a cough like episode when she plays or is picked up. Is there anything that I can do to stop this coughing. The coughing lasts for no more than 5 secs each time. She is a pure bred English cocker spaniel, who is 13 years old. Pet's info: Dog | English Cocker Spaniel | Female | spayed | 13 years and 1 month old | 32 lbs

Does she have a heart murmur? I would recommend having a veterinarian listen to Mischi's heart to see if she is coughing due to a heart problem or a respiratory problem.
