Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The urinary tract symptoms you describe could be due to a urinary tract infection, urinary stones, a tumor, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further diagnostics would include abdominal imaging and lab work. Treatment would be based on findings. Good luck and have a good night!

I am sorry to hear about your dog. I would recommend getting him/her to a veterinarian as soon as possible if they are unable to urinate. There are a variety of causes for these symptoms including a bad urinary tract infection (if pet is straining but small amounts are coming out regularly), bladder stones, tumors of the bladder, and enlarged prostate in male dogs. The vet will examine your dog and may try to get a urine sample to test and will likely recommend an x-ray. Treatment will depend on their findings.

Great question! Signs of a UTI in dogs include straining to pee, peeing in small amounts or not at all, peeing multiple times in a row with very little coming out, a frequent need to go out all the time, and lethargy. From your description, it doesn't sound like Romeo has a UTI, and at this point in time, I would not be worried. If you see any of the signs I mentioned above, then I would be worried and have him seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

This could be a sign of infection could also indicate a prostate gland issue or even stones in the urethra. If this continues I recommend Samson get checked out by his veterinarian to make sure he doesn't need antibiotics or any sort of test like an x-ray. This is especially important if his urine becomes bloody at all.
