My dog licked up spilled alcohol. What are the symptoms to watch for?

Hi my 2 labs (66 lbs and 89 lbs) just licked up some malibu rum and pepsi drink. The drink was strong and about 10 ounces and probably 50/50 alcohol to soda ratio - the whole drink didnt spill she just toppled the glass a bit and some splashed on the floor - will dogs be ok - the pretty much licked it all up before I saw what was happening and yelled for them to stop

Hello, thank you for your question. Labs can be so mischievous! Based on your description I think that your dogs should be ok. If dogs ingest a large amount of alcohol they can experience side effects. However I believe that the small amount should not cause sever symptoms. I would recommend monitoring your dogs overnight, if at anytime they became unsteady on their feet or weak I would have them seen by a veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!
