My old dog has mammary tumors. Should I remove them if they might return?

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 10 years and 2 months old

Just been told that my 10 year old Yorkshire terrier as mammary gland tumours, and that she should have them removed along with being spade....but chances are they could come back anyway so i really dont know what to do for the best

To be completely honest, having her spayed at this point of her life will not prevent future tumors but it can prevent pyometra (uterine infection), the tumors do need to be removed surgically though as they tend to grow and ulcerate at some point and the dog can no longer live this way, having them removed often solves the problem.
