Why does my dog whine and follow my son, sniffing his feet?

The other day my dog started following my son who is 16 around smelling his feet then tonig24hr he ran in the house 2 times in a row and left the dog whined and howled the whole time he was gone when he is in his room the dog whines and eventually lays down by his door I tried paying attention to the dog petting him giving him treat filling his treat ball he still whines why and what do I do and why is he following my son around smelling his feet?

I would recommend perhaps that your son washes his feet to change their scent and that way he may not smell anything and that would make him calm down. Good luck and have a great day!
