Hello I got a new kitten recently and I been introducing them slowly by feeding them in the same room but when I let my kitten free in the same room as my cat she still growls and hissed is this normal?

Unfortunately it's very common. It means you need to rewind a bit and introducing more slowly. It can take months to fully integrate a new cat (and sometimes it doesn't even work at all). If eating in the same room was fine, go back to that for a few weeks, but no free roaming.
