How much should I feed my 8-month-old kitten to ensure healthy growth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have an 8 month old 10 lb BIG maile kitten. He is very long and has bit paws. I assume he is still growing. How much should I be feeding him: 3 wet 3 oz cans and a little dry food - more or less? I can feel his spine but not his ribs. His wet food is 10% protein, usually chicken or chicken & liver. All is no grain. I keep reading different things.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! He should be eating about 275 - 300 calories per day to continue to grow at a healthy weight. It is not based on the volume of food but more so based on the amount of calories in the food you feed him. This information should be in the back of the bag or can you feed him or possibly online. Good luck and have a great day!
