Good afternoon I was seeing if maybe you could help me determine what's wrong with my dog. Her eye is really red with a white film over her pupil. She has also had a lot of discharge coming from this eye.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. I highly recommend that you have Athina evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

Hi and thanks for posting. White discharge coming from the eye as a red eye can all indicate an eye infection or another disorder of the eye such as a corneal ulcer. Harvey will need to see his vet for an eye exam to help determine what the cause is. He may need antibiotic eye drops or other medications as necessary.

It sounds as your puppy is suffering from an eye infection, it is relatively common in dogs. you will need to take him to the vet the first chance you get, the vet will check the eyes, if it is indeed a simple eye infection your vet will prescribe an antibiotic eye drops that will probably solve the problem in no time.

Poor JJ. It sounds like he has an eye infection, as the discharge indicates that and the reddish color to his cornea. That can be due to irritation. Any eye problem is an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take him into a vet today to get this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.
