Why is my Bengal cat foaming, shaking head, and acting strange?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Male | neutered | 10 years and 2 months old | 9 lbs

Hi i have a bengal he is 10 years old he goes outside alot and he has had 3 episodes where he seems to suddenly start to foam at the mouth and run round shaking his head when i try to clean away the foam he jumps a mile as if it really hurts him. I took him the other niggt to emergency vet but by the time we got there he was fine and i didnt want to have to spend a fortune on examining him but its happened twice more once after eating and again after scratching door mat. Any ideas? Thank you

Mr Whiskas could have bad tooth or something else in his mouth that is occasionally causing irritation. It’s also possible that he’s eating something that has a bad taste like some kind of insect when this is happening. Some cats can have atypical seizures or other neurologic episodes where they act frantic and foam at the mouth. I would recommend making an appointment with your regular vet to have his mouth examined - if you’re able to video an episode to show the vet it might help determine what could be going on.
