My dog has IBD. Are there tests before starting a special diet?

Before i start special diet, Is their a test for IBD in dogs? October 12 Kyro ate a bone off street. Intially Kyro had vomiting & diaherrea. October 14, Not my regular Vet prescribed antibiotic & Pepcid. X ray showed piece of bone in stomach. Lately some stool is formed & some not , diaherrea. Haven't done 2nd x ray. Thur & Friday tiny amount of blood in stool. Today via phone my Vet says IBD. Currently feeding mix of ground turkey, Pumpkin & rice. Was doing 50/50 of mix & dry food. What do I do. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 3 months old | 69 lbs

There is no specific test for IBD except intestinal biopsy which is a very invasive procedure. an expert ultrasound can be done to achieve an approximate diagnosis for IBD but this is not a 100% test. i would suggest going ahead and follow your vet's recommendation about this, i usually recommend a prescription diet and steroid treatment for severe cases of IBD.
