My 8-year-old dog's deformed leg limps in cold weather. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 11 months old | 16 lbs

I have uploaded some pictures of my dogs leg. He is 8 years old. He was attached by another dog when he was a puppy. I didn't have it fixed cause when it happened he never limped on it or showed that anything was wrong. Only after it started to heal did I see what happened. He has not had any issues till now and he limps when it's cold and I'm afraid that it's gonna snap soon. The photos are in the profile

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Damian. His leg appears quite deformed. He will need to see a veterinarian to discuss treatment options. X-rays will likely be needed to see the quality of the bones. In the meantime, do not allow him to perform strenuous activities or jump off of furniture. You do not want any unnecessary stress on the limb. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!
