My cat has a deep leg wound with bone showing. Is it a vet emergency?

I noticed a wound on my cats leg today. I had a closer look at it and it looks like I can see a bone or a tendon. A lot of articles I have read said to leave it alone, and that he will be able to keep it clean and it’ll heal by itself but I wanted some professional advice. Do you think I should take him to a vet or let it heal by itself?

I'm not sure what articles you are reading, but a wound like this should never be left alone! If a bone or tendon is showing, that is a deep wound that requires stitches to close. In addition, Jack will need antibiotics to prevent an infection, and pain medications as this will be quite painful for him. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. I would take him into a vet immediately. Best of luck.
