My senior dog has green eye discharge, redness, and cloudy film.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Our Lhasa has green discharge, redness and a cloudy film on his left eye. I noticed drooping in that eye this summer, but there was never discharge and it always went away in a couple days. I assumed it was either irritation from grooming or environmental/stress from us dogsitting and using bleach to clean after the other dogs. This week, the cornea of the same eye looks concerning, but there is no drooping. He is about 13-15. It doesn't seem to bother him unless I clean it or shine a light.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration and/or corneal ulcer. At least in these pictures, his cornea appears affected. I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!
