How can you tell if a horse has eaten to much Russian Knapweed?

The bitterness of knapweed usually prevents foraging by horses. Too much may lead to neurotoxic effects that cause muscle paralysis. The horse will have difficulty eating and drinking, may become lethargic or develop ataxia (wobbly gait). Anxiety or flailing about may also be seen. If left untreated, the toxic effects can be fatal. If you believe your horse may have ingested knapweed, have him examined by your equine veterinarian as soon as possible.
