Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 years and 4 months old | 23 lbs

Hello recently my senior dog that is 9 developed some lumps on his neck. They appeared overnight. They seem to have a purple color with some red. He does have other lumps that are soft to the touch since he was 6.would this be cancer? I know he needs an exam and I'm going to take him but I'm kinda freaking out right now. He poops and eats normal.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! These could be benign or malignant growths. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. I recommend you have Cochino evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!
