My dachshund keeps scratching her swollen ear. What should I do?

I have a dachshund that keeps scratching her ear. The inside of it is swollen now. It has started going down now but what can I do to help

I recommend having her ear examined by your veterinarian. She could have ear mites, a yeast or bacterial infection. It will get worse quickly if not treated properly and she could develop an ear hematoma from scratching. Ear problems are very painful if left untreated. They will prescribe medication that will cure the problem and reduce the scratching also. In the meantime I would put her in a cone so she can’t continue to scratch the ear.
