Why does my cat meow with open mouth, head back while eating?

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | neutered | 6 years and 9 months old | 13 lbs

Hi there! My cat is showing an abnormal behavior recently! He suddenly push his head back, closing his eyes while opening his mouth and meowing! Mostly while eating and grooming what should we do? Is it dangerous? Please help!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Kopol. That is odd behavior for a cat to display. Is he tasting something bad during these episodes? A new food for example? If not, does he pant or breathe with his mouth open? This can be a sign of respiratory distress in a cat. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian for an examination. He could possibly be painful. Based on these results, blood work may be recommended as well. A thyroid disorder can cause a cat to meow more frequently. I hope this information helps!
