Why are my budgies cuddling and acting lethargic? Are they sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | unneutered

Came hime today and my budgies we're cuddled into eachother, to point where i thought ones head was stuck under the others wing. They separated but have been acting very out of charactor, one shows signs of tiredness, sitting low, eyes closed, and flustered up, both have been eating but are very quiet. They have now returned to cuddle position ( explained previously) extremely worried. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks

It's possible one or both birds may be ill, especially if they are not acting normal and seem very lethargic. Keeping them warm and eating and drinking can help, but it is best to bring them to your vet so they can be examined and any more serious issues such as illness or injury ruled out. If one seems very ill or injured, separating the two birds into hospital cages can help until you can get into your vet.
