Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 21 years and 5 months old | 9 lbs
My chihuahua has began nibbling & scratching her tail so I looked & saw what looks like a pink cut underneath her tail almost toward her rear end , it even looks as if it’s an open wound what could this be? does she have an infection ?

Without an image, it is difficult to say if there is infection. Place an e-collar (cone) on Suzy to prevent further licking. Keep the area clean and dry. You can use diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) to clean the area. This may be enough to allow for healing. Monitor for lethargy, fever, discomfort, discharge, redness, swelling or odor. These are symptoms that may indicate infection and should be addressed by your veterinarian.
