Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | unspayed | 4 lbs
Dear Vet! Our cat has had kittens for the first time in her life. They are 1 month old today. The kittens has just learned how to climb out of the box which is their nest. They were out, exploring and walking outside for the first time. Their mother has been looking over them, licking them and keeping an eye out. Maybe 3 minutes later, she started to play very aggressively with them, was truly rough, to the point we were afraid she will hurt them. Should we separate the kittens? I fear for them!

If Reddy is playing very rough with them, I wouldn't let them alone with her. You can keep them with her when you are around and supervising but if you have to leave and they are roaming I would separate them till they are a little bigger. That way they don't get hurt. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
